“Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. And He said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! For He commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey Him” (Luke 8:24-25).
Only the Creator has the power to command the winds and the waves. It wasn’t just that the winds died down and in an hour or so that the waves slowed down. He spoke with awesome authority and gave the command. Instantly the winds and the waves stopped. It reminds me of the elderly mother was so burdened for her adult children. Mom came to Christ for salvation later in life and sadly, neither of her two adult children were the least interested in the gospel. Mom never became overbearing in her desire to share the gospel with them, but she did consistently share. Her son laughed and said, “Mom, get with it. This is 2018. No one believes that old stuff anymore.” She remained very quiet that night, and before her son and his family left for home, he said, “Mom, I think I have hurt your feelings. I’m sorry. It’s just that I don’t believe what you believe.” Her quiet answer is priceless. I’ll share it with you tomorrow.
For today: Aren’t you glad that you know Christ? Don’t you wish everyone did?
