“The way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes” (Romans 3:17-18).
Danielle was home from college on a long weekend break when she walked into her parents’ kitchen to get some coffee for breakfast. Mom was already at the breakfast table and could see that her girl was really troubled. “I know that you can read me like a book, Mom,” Danielle said with a smile. Over coffee that morning she described one of the gals in her college dorm suite. “I know I am at a liberal arts university, Mom, but really, you can’t believe the way that Anna lives. Some of the most vile things I have never even heard of came pouring out of her lips earlier this week. She said that her life is a wreck, and she is so troubled that she thought of killing herself several times,” Danny continued. “That’s when we got the University medical intervention team involved. She laughs at me because I love the Lord and won’t join her for ‘fun,’ as she puts it. But on the other hand, she is the one who is miserable. It is really a Romans 3 scenario, isn’t it, Mom,” she asked. Friends, it is true. The wicked laugh at us because we fear the Lord, and yet the way of peace and satisfaction is far from them. Don’t you wish everyone knew the Lord and feared Him?
For today: They might laugh and call us old fashioned; however, I am so glad that I know the Lord. How about you?
