“This is my commandment that you love one another, as I have loved you” (John 15:12).
“I think you ought to go to that family conference held at that Baptist church in town,” the divorce lawyer said. “Then when we go to family court in a month, you can tell the judge that you even went to a family conference and it didn’t help. That way you will look like you tried to put some effort into your failed marriage,” the attorney told his young client. So she went to the conference. The people of the church were welcoming and assured her that she was absolutely welcome to attend even though her husband wasn’t present. “Sorry your husband couldn’t come, but we’re mighty glad that you are here,” an outgoing couple said to her. “Come, sit with us. We don’t know the speaker. To tell you the truth, no one knows him except we know that he’s from a mission agency we’ve heard of,” they told her. More about this lady and her situation tomorrow. For today, just think of what it would be like in our homes, churches, and places of work if we took to heart what the Lord Jesus told us, “Love one another, as I have loved you.”
For today: It will be interesting to see how our love for others is demonstrated in light of Christ’s love for us.
