“I will speak of the glorious honor of Thy majesty, and of Thy wondrous works. And men shall speak of the might of Thy terrible” (awesome) “acts. I will speak of the glorious honor of Thy majesty, and of Thy wondrous works” (Psalm 145:3-5).
I hate to hear of the Lord being referred to as “the man upstairs.” Personally, I am becoming even greater in the conviction that even though I have walked with the Lord for over fifty-four years and served Him for forty-six years, I know very little as to how really awesome is our great LORD. He shook Mount Sinai with His holy presence (Exodus 19). He pulled back just a tiny bit of the veil that covered His glory on the Mount of Transfiguration and the three disciples collapsed at His breathtaking glory (Matthew 17). Before His presence every knee will bow because God has highly exalted our Lord Jesus and given Him a name above every name (Philippians 2:9-11). I want to be gracious and kind, but I stop people who disrespect Him as they fool, tell jokes, or use His name as a curse word. I truly love Him and cherish my relationship with Him, but I also highly respect Him and want to reverence His name. How about you?
For today: Awesome is our Lord. He is worthy of our reverence today.
