“And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call His name JESUS. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as His mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:31; Matthew 1:18).
We have the clear understanding of the situation because we have the report of the Scriptures. But imagine for a moment the situation in which this young teenage Jewish girl is told by Gabriel that she will conceive a son through the working of the Holy Spirit. Incredible! Matthew records that Mary was “found” with child. The word “found” is heurisko which conveys the idea of “to come upon, to find out, to learn or discover.” How did Joseph find out? We don’t know. But we do know that it took an angel to explain and convince him that God was orchestrating this. No matter what others would think, no matter what others would say, no matter how confusing the situation would be, God was orchestrating this. We’ll think more of this tomorrow. However, for now be thinking of your present situation. In times of confusion, disappointment, and even bewilderment, be watching how God is orchestrating the events of your surrendered life.
For today: Lord, in my sorrow, hurts, and confusion, please help me to trust and watch Your orchestration of my life.
