“For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given” (Isaiah 9:6a).
What a sweet conversation Micah had with his cousins. “I know we grew up in the Jewish traditions and faith, but listen to this. Even Isaiah saw that the time would come that God’s own Son would be born. His birth made possible His precious sacrifice. Think of it. God’s own Son would be born for us.” The cousins listened but were clearly intrigued. “We thought you would bring this verse up again, so we asked the Rabbi who this child was. He didn’t like our asking. He told us to be ‘good boys’ and leave that question to the Rabbis. We pushed a little, and he didn’t have too much of an answer other than that he thought maybe it was Israel.” Micah jumped in and said, “If you think this is great, listen to what the verse goes on to say!” We will pick this up right here tomorrow.
For today: Aren’t you glad that the Lord Jesus is that child of Whom Isaiah wrote?
