“For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given” (Isaiah 9:6b).
We listened in on a witnessing situation with Micah and his cousins who were still in the Jewish faith. Using Isaiah 9:6 as one of the texts that pointed to the coming of Christ in the Old Testament, Micah was having a great time explaining to his family why he had become a Christ-follower, as they called him. “Not only did the Lord Jesus come to be born, He came to be our Savior,” Micah said. “He came to be our Savior. That’s what the phrase ‘a Son is given’ means,” he explained. The cousins had no answer. In fact you might remember yesterday that the Rabbi told them not to ask such questions which only spurred their curiosity. One of the cousins said, “You know, Micah, I thought you were a little crazy, but now that I know that Isaiah believed this, I want to think more seriously about it.”
For today: That’s right, Isaiah did believe it. Aren’t you glad that we have such a wonderful Savior?
