“His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor…” (Isaiah 9:6c)
I find it greatly interesting to read the names of people. Moms and dads are picking out beautiful names for their children today. Some of the names I have never seen before nor do I know how to pronounce them, for sure. Some I have wondered how the parents came up with such unique names. In the culture of Isaiah’s day and age, the names of children often reflected the heart’s condition or the culture’s condition before the Lord. Often the male child was named after someone special in the family. When it comes to one of the names for the Lord Jesus, I have personally delighted in the “Wonderful Counselor” name of our Savior. In my years of counseling, I often have reminded people that there is only one Wonderful Counselor. I am not he. But I love Him. Whatever you face today, you can trust the Wonderful Counselor. He has the answer to your deepest need.
For today: Aren’t you glad that you could never ask the Lord a question that He cannot answer?
