“But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall He come forth unto Me that is to be ruler in Israel; Whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting” (Micah 5:2).
This prophecy is a glorious prediction of where the Son of God, the Incarnate Word made flesh, would be born. He would come to Bethlehem. Hundreds of years before this was fulfilled, Micah had proclaimed the certainty of this prophetic announcement. It was sure to happen just as the Lord had proclaimed. And happen it did! I have been privileged to stand several times in the shepherds’ fields and visit the little town of Bethlehem. But you don’t have to go there to be thrilled that the Savior, the Son of the living God, the Lord Jesus Christ, was born as a little baby boy in the tiny village of Bethehem long ago. The reason? Because we needed the Savior to become man to take our place and pay for our sins. What a tremendous gift to be remembered throughout the Christmas season.
For today: This is how the King chose to come. Aren’t you glad to belong to Him?
