“Faithful is HE that calleth you, Who also will do it” (I Thessalonians 5:24).
Jon and several of the men in the Bible study that took place before office hours were talking about how the Lord often demonstrates His faithfulness in times of adversity. Each of the men agreed that they would perhaps more enjoy seeing the faithfulness of God in times of ease and plenty, but to be honest, that it was in times of adversity that the faithfulness of God was to be experienced the most clearly. Less than ten hours later a large blanket was quickly being placed over Jon’s face as the fire department waited to begin using the jaws of life to pry him from the twisted and tangled wreckage of his automobile. A distracted driver never saw the red light and had plowed into Jon as a fairly high rate of speed. A state of shock settled over Jon until the sense of pain, lots of pain, started growing. “Am I coming Home to be with You, Lord?” Jon whispered to the Lord. An amazing thing occurred amidst the flashing blue and red lights and the blare of the first responders’ radio. Jon’s own minister, Pastor Kenward, who also served as a police chaplain was on duty that afternoon and evening. His squad car was responding to the scene code three (lights and sirens). I’ll tell you more about this tomorrow.
For today: It doesn’t take a car crash to see the faithfulness of God. Be watching for it today.
