“God is faithful, by Whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:9).
Earlier in the day, before office hours began, Jon and several of his co-workers enjoyed the discussion of their Bible study. Several gave testimony to the faithfulness of God especially in times of adversity. Jon had laughed and said, “I would rather see God’s faithfulness without the adversity.” All the men agreed. Later that day, on the way home from work, Jon was involved in a horrific car accident. A distracted driver had hit Jon at a high rate of speed. Fire personnel were beginning to shield Jon’s face as they awaited the jaws of life. How amazing the faithfulness of God would be to Jon that day! His own minister, Pastor Kenward, also served as a patrol chaplain in the police department. Without Jon knowing it, Pastor Kenward’s squad car was racing with lights and sirens activated. The first patrolman on arrival radioed the license plate. When dispatch responded with the owner’s name, Pastor Kenward gasped and told his partner, “It’s one of my men.” As he arrived at the scene, there was just enough room for Chaplain Kenward to stretch his arm in the opposite window to take Jon’s hand. He prayed with him for just a second before the jaws started opening his car. Pastor rode to the hospital with Jon and was at his side when Jon’s wife arrived. Jon whispered before heading for surgery, “Faithfulness seen in adversity.” It was not until later that Pastor Kenward found out what he meant.
For today: It will not require a car crash and your pastor serving as chaplain for you to see the faithfulness of God. Be watching for it today.
