“Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6).
We’ve been reading about Jon who, on the way home from work, suffered a horrific car crash because of a distracted driver. Jon’s pastor also served as a police chaplain, and the Lord worked it out that Pastor Kenward was on police duty that late afternoon. How thrilled Jon was to hear Pastor’s voice as he was still trapped in his wrecked car. It was now nearly a week later that Pastor Kenward was making hospital rounds, and Jon would be his final hospital call of the day. “Well, Jon,” Pastor Kenward said. “I must say that you are looking better each time I see you.” Jon smiled and said, “I wish I could say the same about you, Pastor.” It was one of the first times that Jon had joked with his pastor since the ordeal began. “Seriously, Pastor Kenward, I cannot thank the Lord enough for having you on duty that night. After hearing the sirens of the police, fire, and ambulance, I heard another siren. I had no idea it was you on your way. The Lord has been working a lot in my heart and life. While I have been living for Him, I really want to see what the Lord has in store for Margie and me in the days ahead. He has been so faithful. He’s started a good work. It will be interesting to see.” The same is true for each believer as well. It doesn’t take a car crash for His good work to take place.
For today: Trust the Lord to work out His great plan in your life. You’ll be glad that you did.
