“A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season how good is it” (Proverbs 15:23).
So I told you about my summer job of scrubbing toilets at Indian Falls Lake. One day I saw a commercial on TV where a lady was being very theatrical in her dread, “Today is my day to scrub the toilet bowl,” and she acted as if this was the worst thing that could happen to her. SO the next day I counted how many such bowls I scrubbed. Including all the large facilities as well as the small stations scattered throughout the resort, I scrubbed dozens and dozens of bowls twice a day. So the time was coming when I would leave for Bible college, and I declared that I would never again scrub a public restroom. Well, guess what? My Bible college required the students to work for one hour per day on campus to help with expenses. You already guessed what my assignment would be. I scrubbed the bathroom on the second story of the men’s dorm. Yep! Be careful not to say, “I will never again…” The Lord has a wonderful way of working. I have laughed so often about the answer of my mouth. It was a word spoken, but I am not sure it was much of a due season!
For today: Lord, You orchestrate our lives to adjust our attitudes and actions. Please help us to guard our words!
