“Having predestinated us unto adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself according to the good pleasure of His will” (Ephesians 1:5).
“I love being adopted,” Pastor Kenward told his congregation. “It is the greatest blessing in the world. It is the greatest joy!” he continued. Elderly Mrs. MacComber leaned over to Mrs. Ahrens and whispered, or so she thought as she said, “What’s he saying about being adopted? I know his parents. What’s he talking about?” Several of the folks seated nearby started to smile as they tried holding in the giggles. Just then Pastor Kenward said, “Now church family, I am not talking about an earthly adoption, although I think they are grand. I am talking about what our sovereign God, our Heavenly Father, has accomplished through His Son Jesus Christ. Those who know Him as Savior have the joy of being adopted! At this very point Mrs. Ahrens leaned back over to Mrs. MacComber and said rather loudly, “Give the preacher a chance to explain things, Gladys. Be patient.” What a day for those sitting near these two dear ladies!
For today: Can you imagine the blessing of being adopted into our Father’s family? It is amazing. Super amazing, I would say!
