“But the Word of God grew and multiplied” (Acts 12:24).
How I marvel at God’s Word. It accomplishes things that humanly I cannot accomplish. I have had the great opportunity of preaching God’s Word for over fifty-one years. I’ve seen fads come and go, but this I can tell you! God has promised to bless His Word (Isaiah 55:11). From the most difficult of circumstances in the society in which the early church was being planted, God’s Word grew and multiplied. It worked! It still does. Recently I shared a post of a statement made by Dr. Al Mohler. He said, “Preacher, give up trying to be cool. Cool changes so quickly, and besides, it’s not working for you anyway. Do what cool can’t do. Bathe your heart and mind in the ancient glories of Scripture. Devote yourself to proclaiming the eternal truth of God.” Tomorrow is Sunday. Is your pastor preaching the Word or is he trying to be cool? You need to be under the sound preaching of God’s Word.
For today: Thank you, Lord, for your Word. I pray that each of my friends receiving my Daily Prescription will be in a church tomorrow where the pastor isn’t worried about being cool; rather, he is devoted to the Lord and His Word.
