“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth, entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier” (2 Timothy 2:3-4).
Today we observe Memorial Day. This is a time in which we remember and honor those men and women who died protecting our nation. I greatly fear that many view Memorial Day only as the start of summer, a day for picnics, finally a day off from work, or a time to watch a parade. All of these things are fine, but the real meaning of the day is to remember how great a price has been paid for us to enjoy the benefits and blessings here in America. Paul spoke with his beloved Timothy about what it takes to be a good soldier. I am challenged and stretched to be such a soldier of Jesus Christ. How about you?
For today: May we be good soldiers of the most wonderful Commander-in-Chief, the Lord Jesus Himself!
