“The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The LORD is good to all: and His tender mercies are over all His works” (Psalm 145:8-9).
In the Old Testament a very beautiful term is used on occasions. It is the term “tender mercies.” The word is racham (pronounced RAKH-am) which means “compassion, the womb as a mother cherishes her unborn baby, a tender or great love and mercy.” It is hard to imagine the Lord loving us in the same way that a mommy loves her unborn baby. But this is the exact way the Lord regards His people. The young mommy rubbed her stomach as she described the ultrasound showing the images of her unborn baby. How great is her love for the child she has not yet held in her arms! This is how the Lord loves you today. Whatever is going on in your life, you may rest assured that the Lord loves you and wants to demonstrate His tender mercies to you throughout your day.
For today: How wonderful it is to belong to the Lord and to sense the security of His tender mercies.
