“Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father” (John 10:17-18).
The Lord Jesus spoke to the people of His role as the Good Shepherd. Hirelings flee when danger comes. Good shepherds run toward the danger and would be willing to lay down their life for the sheep. How wonderfully does this describe our precious Savior! He would lay down His life. Pilate didn’t kill Him. The soldiers didn’t kill Him. The religious leaders didn’t kill Him. He laid down His life for His sheep. What an incredible Savior is our Lord Jesus. He laid down His life for you and took it up again. You can trust Him today no matter what comes into your life.
For today: Wonderful Savior and glorious Shepherd is our Lord. Let’s trust Him today.
