“I will speak of the glorious honor of Thy majesty, and of Thy wondrous works” (Psalm 145:5).
King David praises the Lord and speaks of something that really strikes me as I read it. Everything about David’s praise of the Lord is very special; however, there is a statement that the king made that really captures my attention. He speaks of the “Glorious honor of Thy majesty” when referring to the Lord. The word “majesty” is howd which means glory, beauty, comeliness, or splendor. “The Lord is beautiful beyond imagination. Bring to your mind the most beautiful sights you have ever seen. The Lord is far greater in the splendor of His majesty and glory than we can ever conjure up. With this in mind, I want to be tactful and gracious, but I cannot allow anyone to refer to Him as “the big boy upstairs” without interrupting and sharing why. Whatever you are facing today, keep the Lord high and lifted up in your attention throughout your day. You’ll be glad that you did.
For today: Far greater than “the man upstairs,” He is the Lord of glorious honor and majesty. Just ask Mt. Sinai how powerful and majestic He is! He came down on Mt. Sinai and it shook and smoked (Exodus 19:18).
