I have enjoyed sharing a couple of thoughts from Paul’s writing to the church family at Rome. Here’s another great verse with a wonderful application for each of us.
“Provide things honest in the sight of all men” (Romans 12:17).
Candi enjoyed the morning getting groceries with her little son. This task was just a little more challenging as she had her three-month-old baby joining her in the store. She made her way through the checkout, getting her bags filled and paying for her groceries. It was time to head to the parking lot and be on her way. Getting her baby snapped in the car seat, Candi quickly unloaded her cart of bagged groceries. To her dismay, there was the garlic bulb marked 51 cents. Sure enough! She had missed placing it on the grocery belt. She hadn’t paid for the garlic. It was only 51 cents. The young man collecting the carts from the parking lot told her, “Don’t worry about it. Just take it.”
As Candi thought about it, she immediately knew that she couldn’t do that. So you guessed it. Out comes her little boy and back into the store went Candi to pay for the garlic. Some would say that they’d never bother doing that. However! That night Candi went to bed knowing that she had “provided things honest in the sight of all men.” She pleased the Lord and that blessed her life. How about you? How will this play out in your life today?
What a great challenge and reminder for us: Being honest in the little things really is a big deal to the Lord. I want to please Him. How about you?
