“My soul thirsts for God, for the living God” (Psalm 41:2).
Jack, Randy, and “Spike” (whose real name most folks never learned!) were working on landscaping on a very hot day. They still had two more places to fit into the schedule for the day. Randy knew the Lord, but he was very sure that the other two didn’t know Christ. After working hard for nearly two hours in the heat of the day, the men were really thirsty. As they loaded up the equipment to proceed to the next appointment, it most definitely was time for hydration. To say that they were thirsty was an understatement. Randy attended prayer meeting that night where he heard his pastor speak about thirsting for God. His mind went back to the earlier appointment and his thirst for cold water. “Lord,” he silently prayed, “please help me to be as thirsty for You as I was for water earlier this afternoon. Lord, I need this and I mean it, please help me.” It was a vivid object lesson to him.
For today: How is your thirst for the Lord doing? I am praying that same prayer as Randy. How about you?
