“Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife” (Matthew 1:24).
“Sometimes you just have to do the right thing and obey God even if people around you might laugh at you, might not believe what you’re telling them, and might even make life miserable for you,” Pastor L. told his youth group. “Think of Joseph. He knew what the angel told him was true. But do you think everyone around him believed Joseph’s explanation?” the youth pastor continued. Two days later Alyssa had to take a stand in her middle school cafeteria. She tried to explain her testimony of salvation and how she wanted to please the Lord. Very few of her friends believed her, and it hurt. Then she remembered what her youth pastor had cautioned the group just a few days before. She smiled as she thought, “Alyssa, Alyssa, Alyssa. Think of what must have happened in Joseph’s life. But I am sure that he was glad that he did what was right. So am I.”
For today: Have you ever taken the big step of obeying the Lord and doing what was right, even if no one around you believed you or appreciated it? How will this play out in your life today?
