“So shall my Word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11).
He was a hard case indeed. Mick lived a hard life, and many of his problems were the direct result of his sinful choices in life. He hurt those who loved him. He pushed people away who were trying to help him. He was fired from several jobs and had been in and out of trouble with the law. Then one day when the winds started blowing colder, he stepped inside the doors of the local rescue mission for men. He was welcomed in. After a hot shower and a good supper, the director told him that the only requirements were that he had to be willing to allow someone to help him find work and attend evening chapel. He didn’t want to do either, but since it was now snowing, he consented. The first several nights of chapel were not pleasant for him. Oh, did he resist! But before too long, the Word started to convict and point him to the Savior. It is amazing what the Word can do!
