“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
It was quite a discussion in the student center at the University. Several college students were trying to argue with Stephen about whether the other world’s religions were valid. They resented the fact that Stephen, though gracious, was adamant that there was only one way to Heaven. Across town in the printing company, it was quite a scene at the microwave in the employee kitchen. “You mean to stand there, Larry, and tell me that only the people who ask Jesus to be their Savior are going to Heaven?” Will asked defiantly. “Will, it’s not my idea. It’s what the Bible teaches, and I most assuredly do believe what the Lord says,” a gentle but adamant coworker named Larry replied. One more scene takes us to the pediatrician’s office where Bonnie brought her little boy in to be checked. “I really can’t talk about spiritual things right now, Bonnie, but I do know about you Christians. I don’t believe that way. I believe that everyone is going to Heaven. Well, almost everyone,” the nurse practitioner stated. Bonnie was polite but adamant, “It doesn’t matter what I think. What does matter is what the Bible teaches us about Heaven and knowing the Lord Jesus.” Well, it was quite a day for Stephen, Larry, and Bonnie. How about you? Are you encountering people like this in your witnessing situations?
For today: The Word of God is the final authority. What matters is not what we might think but what does the Lord say?
