“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! Behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the LORD said unto me, say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of the faces: For I am with thee to deliver thee, said the LORD” (Jeremiah 1:5-8).
We know that Jeremiah was very young. Was he still at teenager? Was he at the twenty mark? While we’re not certain, we know he was young. He tried to politely explain to the Lord why he couldn’t possibly do the assignment that the Lord had for him. As I recall, Moses had tried that same thing, didn’t he (Exodus 3: 11-12)? With both Jeremiah and Moses, the answer from the Lord didn’t relieve them of the assignment, but it assured them of His presence and help. It is the same with every believer as we face difficult circumstances, unknown opportunities, and what appears to be overwhelming assignments from the Lord.
For today: It is not about how difficult your circumstances are. It is about how BIG your awesome Lord is!
