“Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
Isn’t it interesting how the Lord Jesus referred to Heaven? He called it his Father’s house. How homesick the Lord Jesus must have been as He lived and served here on this earth! Many years ago I had the privilege of speaking personally with a United States ambassador. He and I talked of the situation of homesickness and how even though he was thankful for the opportunity to serve his country, he was homesick for family and for his homeland. As a believer, you and I are never really at home until we get Home to Heaven. Because we know the Lord Jesus as our personal Savior, this world is not our home; we are really just passing through. We are headed for the Father’s house. Yesterday we read of the Lord Jesus saying that He was returning to His Father (John 16:5). Perhaps a good barometer to measure the depth of our spiritual life would be to ask, “How homesick for Heaven am I?”
For today: I pray that Heaven, the Father’s House, will thrill our hearts today.
