“I will love Thee, O LORD, my strength” (Psalm 18:1).
This precious psalm of King David expresses his personal love for the Lord Who was his strength. Doesn’t it seem likely the king would declare that his strength came as a result of his vast army or his genius in battle strategies? Not David. He knew his strength came from the Lord. Lanny didn’t have a great education. He never had any of the material possessions that many of his friends had. Yet Lanny loved the Lord. The day came when Lanny received some very bad news about his health. It hurt deeply. There were many questions left unanswered. Yet Lanny possessed a quiet calmness that his life was secure in the Lord’s hands. Some wondered if he was in denial. It wasn’t denial. It was the strength of the Lord in his life. There would be hard days. But God was his strength. How about you? How will this play out in your life today?
For today: Ask yourself the hard question. Do I live by my own strength or am I relying upon the Lord? Seek to create in your home the joy of experiencing God’s power and strength.
