“You are bought with a price: Therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:20).
Sammy and his family had sufficient funds to live frugally. But they didn’t have a lot of extra funds for things that weren’t really necessary. He and his wife decided to put away a little extra each month during the wintry season so that by the time early summer arrived, they would have enough to cover the purchase of a new swing set for their children. The glad day came when the purchase was made. What a celebration! The kids were so excited. Danny and his other three siblings were actually more in the way than helpful, but it was such an exciting day for the entire family. After unpacking the entire disassembled swing set, and after checking the directions three times, Sammy discovered that the equipment needed for step five of the project was missing. “Frustration” was probably too mild a description for the way he was feeling! True, the parts and pieces could be boxed up and taken back, but when he had been saving for several months and the glad day arrived, it was frustrating that his purchase didn’t work properly. What an illustration for us. We are “bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.” What a great opportunity and responsibility to function (with the Lord’s help) in the way in which we were designed.
For today: I don’t want to be like the disappointing swing set. Silly as that may sound, I want the Lord to help me to please Him in the way I live today. How about you?
