“But thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift” (2 Corinthians 9:15).
As you may remember from yesterday, Jannelle and her mom were having a heart-to-heart conversation about the spiritual climate of Jannelle’s home. While it had been clear to Jannelle’s mom, this was the moment for which she had been praying. “Honey,” Joyce said as she took her daughter’s hand, “I didn’t think it was my place to say anything. But since you have asked, I think the key is getting your family back to being thankful first and foremost to the Lord for His amazing gift to us. I’ve lived with you nearly six months, and it has been a long time since Lance gathered the family together to lead us in family worship. You are so good to me and have provided such a lovely home for me after your dad died. But I have missed those evenings when Lance led us in family worship. I seldom see Shawn or Marcee having their devotions. I do think it would be good for us as a family to invest our time and money in some projects for others less fortunate than us. But it starts with being thankful to the Lord for His gift.” It was a precious conversation. It took some time to capture lost opportunities, but slowly-but-surely Jannelle and Lance’s family started back to where they had been before. More about this tomorrow.
For today: How thankful is your family for God’s wonderful gift? How thankful are you? How is it demonstrated?
