“Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that Thou art the LORD God, and that Thou hast turned their heart back again” (1 Kings 18:37).
What a powerful prayer Elijah prayed that day on Mt. Carmel. I have had the privilege of standing on Mt. Carmel several times with the groups who were with me visiting the Holy Lands. His prayer was not to be established as the leading prophet of the day. His prayer was not for the Lord to get him out of this situation. He prayed with such a powerful motivation and purpose. He asked God to send the answer for the sake of the watching people. He wanted them to know the Lord in a personal way. I am challenged again to think of his concern for the people. I will confess that there are times I have caught myself needing to be much more concerned for people. May I share more about this with you tomorrow?
For today: People need the Lord. They always have and always will. What a joy you and I can have in helping others to see the Lord working through our lives.
