“His eyes were as a flame of fire” (Revelation 1:14).
On the Island of Patmos John was being held as prisoner because of his testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ. On the Lord’s Day, John received the Revelation of the Lord Jesus and saw Him in His glorified body. As best he could describe Him, John revealed what he saw. One of the interesting descriptions concerned the eyes of the Lord. John seems to be recording that our Lord’s eyesight was penetrating. They saw everything. Nothing was hidden from view. It reminds me of the family who was watching a football game. A huge uproar occurred when clearly there was pass interference on the part of the defense. “The official was standing right there, and no call was made!” Dad screamed. Over and over again the network replayed the missed call. Even the announcers cried, “Terrible missed call.” The official made a huge mistake. However! It also reminds me of the awesome truth that our glorious Lord misses nothing. While I’m thankful for His mercy, I must always remember that He sees. He sees clearly. He sees all. This is both comforting to me and challenging as well.
For today: I am grateful to belong to the Lord Jesus. So thankful to be His.
