Yesterday we thought of Isaiah’s words and descriptions of God strengthening His people who wait and trust in Him. Please come with me for a moment as we consider how the Lord gave strength to three Hebrew men. Let me share the verses and then a thought or two about the situation.
“If it be so, our God Whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace…But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up” (Daniel 3:17-18).
This, my friends, is the statement of courage, conviction, and confidence. The outcome would be one of two possibilities. Either they would live or they would die. The outcome wasn’t known to them at that moment. But one thing was surely known. They didn’t have to think twice (3:16) about whether or not they would bow down to Nebuchadnezzar’s image. The answer was NO. They would never bow down to the image.
May God give us that same spirit of courage, conviction, and confidence as we follow the Lord our God. I am not sure what possible compromises to sin might come your way today. Walk with the Lord. Don’t go looking for trouble, but when possible compromise to do the wrong thing comes, trust God and do the right thing.
My desire and I’m sure yours as well: May we be like the three Hebrew children and fully trust the LORD today.
