“But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear Him” (Psalm 103:17).
When King David wrote of the “mercy” of the LORD, he used a very beautiful word. It is the Hebrew word hesed. Often it is translated “kindness or lovingkindness.” The Hebrews understood that this is the loyal love of the Lord that manifests itself in His lovingkindness and withholds from us what we really do deserve.
The church family was being challenged by Pastor Kenward to be watching for opportunities to express mercy the next week. “Let’s be honest, church family,” Pastor Kenward said. “All of us, especially me as your pastor, all of us are thankful for the Lord’s mercy. But just how often do we express it to others? Just be watching this week for opportunities to show His mercy,” he concluded.
Here’s something to think about throughout your day: We still take a stand against sin. We do stand for righteousness and justice. But just watch how a little mercy will bless many.
