“Karen’s Notes!
Insights from a Glory-Bound Lady”

Selected Notes
Volume 9 Number 6 “Promises Upon Which You Can Rely!”

Last week I shared with you a little excerpt from a ladies’ conference in which Karen spoke. This particular retreat was a big assignment with three major seminars in two days. The theme was “Peace in Troubled Times!”

The focus at hand for this seminar was learning to trust the Lord. In fact, Karen challenged herself and the ladies in attendance to learn to trust the Lord completely. One of the Scripture passages she used was “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusts in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength” (Isaiah 26:3-4).

To help develop a deeper trust in the Lord, she took them to Deuteronomy 10 and brought out several of the word pictures the Lord gave to Moses to help the second generation of the children of Israel to trust Him. The first word picture involved divine ownership.

1. Word picture # 1- Think of His Divine Ownership. “Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD’S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is” (Deuteronomy 10:14). I like to view His ownership as coming from His heart of love.

Karen went on to share that He is our Creator (Psalm 24:1) and Redeemer (1 Corinthian 6:19-20). Karen then shared several promises our blessed Creator and Redeemer has made. Surely these will help us to trust Him.

Karen wrote: Think of what He has promised! He has promised:

To supply our needs. “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

To provide unlimited blessings. “All things are possible to him that believeth” (Mark 9:23).

To answer prayer. “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever you desire, when you pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” (Mark 11:24).

To remove obstacles. “And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea: and it should obey you” (Luke 17:6).
To have eternal life. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

To have spiritual fulness. “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst” (John 6:35).

This is what I’m thinking: Karen went on to invest some time and explanation about praying with right motives, purposes, as well as praying within the Lord’s will. I can tell you that trusting the Lord completely on those hard days is not only possible, it is blessed. When you view Him as your blessed Creator and Redeemer and you hear His precious promises, what a world of difference it makes.
