“But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David!’ they were indignant and said to Him, ‘Do You hear what these are saying?’ and Jesus said to them, ‘Yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise?’” (Matthew 21:15-16). NKJV
Tragically interesting, isn’t it, that the highly trained professional religious leaders completely missed the truth of Who was standing in their presence. However, the young children grasped that the Lord Jesus is the Son of David, and they praised Him. Young children believed and worshipped. Luanne sat down beside her husband, Philip. Their children were tucked into bed, and finally this dear couple had a couple of minutes. “Honey, you won’t believe what our two children did today,” Luanne said. Before Phil had a chance to say another word, Luanne continued, “With crayons they wrote out rules to be in their club. Mind you, there are just the two of them, but you’ve got to see the rules. They are not only cute, they really are very good for ten and eight year-old children. Here, look at their paper.” Phil read the five rules and smiled. 1. It is nice to be nice. 2. Don’t make faces at each other. 3. Keep your hands off each other. 4. Pray lots even if you’re not sick because we love Jesus. 5. Obey even if no one is watching. The highly trained religious leaders missed Him. The little children praised Him. I would say that is incredible. How about you?
For today: I’d say those are wise little children. I wonder what lessons we are learning as adults.
