Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892) began preaching at the age of sixteen and became pastor two years later. It is said that he preached well over 600 sermons before the age of twenty. He had a wonderful way of sharing God’s Word in powerful and practical terms. Let’s think for a moment about several quotes.
“O child of God, be more careful to keep the way of the Lord, more concentrated in heart in seeking His glory, and you will see the lovingkindness and the tender mercy of the Lord in your life.”
“If Christ is not all to you He is nothing to you. He will never go into partnership as part Savior of men. If He be something He must be everything, and if He be not everything He is nothing to you.”
I am challenged and blessed. It takes me to Ephesians 2:7-10. “That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.”
For today: Yes indeed, Christ is everything to us. Right?
