“I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies, and according to the multitude of His lovingkindness” (Isaiah 63:7).
Yesterday I told you about Sam and the change God’s mercy was making in his life. Today let me tell you about Jennifer. To her mother she was always “Jennifer Elizabeth,” but to her friends she was lovingly called “Jenny.” She and three of her dear friends were on the way to Bible study together when a terrible crash occurred. A distracted driver crossed the center line and crashed nearly head-on with Jennifer’s car. Her friends were uninjured, but Jenny’s injuries were serious. She would be hospitalized for several days. One evening as her nurse was checking her IV, Jenny quietly shared her testimony. After placing the new bag on the equipment, the nurse stopped and fully listened to her most unusual patient. As Jenny shared, the nurse silently thought, “I can’t believe this is happening. God, you know I have been so troubled in my thoughts and asked You to send someone who could tell me how to know You. Here she is!” That evening the nurse came to the knowledge of the Lord, and Jenny rejoiced in the mercy of God. “If it weren’t for the crash, I would never have met you,” Jenny said. “I truly believe that God is good and merciful. I am so thankful that the Lord brought us together. You are not only my wonderful nurse, you are now my sister because of your salvation!” Jenny said with tears in her eyes.
For today: The lovingkindness of the Lord sometimes comes in very unusual circumstances. Be watching for it!
