“Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: Thy blessing is upon Thy people. Selah” (Psalm 3:8).
I am pretty sure that you have enjoyed reading through the Psalms. Many of us have been blessed beyond measure as we read not only of the real life, day-by-day struggles of the Psalmist but also his triumphant in the Lord. God is greatly glorified in His plan, provision, and promises. It is wonderful indeed to know that salvation is in the Lord alone and that His blessing is indescribable. But have you stumbled over the next word, “Selah”? The actual name means “to lift up, exalt.” Many scholars believe that it is a technical musical term which calls for accentuation or perhaps even a pause. To this day I can hear one of my early Bible school professors, ML Lowe, say, “When you read ‘Selah,’ it ought to make you stop and think of that!” When you read our verse for today and think of the grand blessings from the Lord, you, too, will stop and think of that!
For today: Isn’t it wonderful to belong to the Lord?
