“Those things, which you have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you” (Philippians 4:9).
“So why would I want to come to your church?” she asked with a slightly desperate tone in her voice. Amanda was talking with her next-door neighbor, Joyce. Without forcing the issue, a wonderful door of opportunity opened to Amanda. Joyce had remarked, “I don’t know what it is, but I know that something is missing in my life. I don’t know even what I need, but I need something.” What a great opportunity for Amanda to share the gospel with Joyce and even to invite her to church with her next Sunday. Now you can understand the question, “So why would I want to come to your church?” Amanda gently gave her four or five good reasons she should join her. But the last thing she said was, “There are a number of wonderful ladies that I would like you to meet. They live in such a way that we younger women not only look up to them, we want to imitate them.” Joyce came! You see, friends, Paul’s admonition to the Philippians holds very true for us. As Paul was a good role model, you and I have the same opportunity and responsibility.
For today: You never know who is watching. How will your life, well-lived for the Lord, encourage others?
