“God thunders marvelously with His voice; He does great things which we cannot comprehend. For He says to the snow, fall on the earth; Likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength” (Job 37:5-6).
With the exception of my ministry years in Binghamton, New York, I’ve lived and served the Lord near the shores of Lake Erie which stretches 241 miles from west-southwest to east-northeast. Being quite shallow, a good number of storms can develop and cause the Lake to crash on the shorelines with great fury. I can remember the first time I heard a computerized emergency warning when I pastored First Baptist Church of Marilla, New York. The radio talk show was interrupted with an emergency tone followed by the computerized voice stating, “The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Erie County. All boaters are warned to return to the harbor immediately. Take shelter immediately!” I never enjoyed anyone being either injured or property destroyed. But I will admit, there is still something very majestic to me as lightning lights up the sky and thunder is powerfully heard. The older I grow, the more I love and appreciate our awesome, powerful Lord.
For today: God thunders marvelously! Lord, how great You are!
