“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:29-31).
There are situations we face in this life that are simply described as being overwhelming. Frankly, these situations might be overwhelming wonderful opportunities or overwhelming difficult problems. We all have experienced both types. You are right now thinking of times that the Lord orchestrated opportunities that at the time seemed just too big for your abilities. On the other hand, you can bring to mind those trials and hardships that seemed far too big. You might have even said, “I can’t handle anymore of this!” Here is the good news. As a believer, you and I have the wonderful joy and privilege of not facing situations, whether wonderful or difficult, on our own. The Lord truly wants to be the source of our strength, wisdom, and enablement. When we come to the point of admitting that we are not in charge and that we truly need Him in every sense of the word, we begin then the blessed journey of living daily in the Lord’s strength.
For today: The sparrow flaps its wings like crazy when taking flight because of being startled. The eagle spreads its wings and soars. So many times we believers need to be reminded the Lord wants us to trust Him and learn to soar like the eagle. I have a lot more to learn about this. How about you?
