“Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable” (Psalm 145:3).
What a wonderful writer was King David. He often used words that are powerful and his word pictures paint a beautiful canvas of Who God is and what God was doing in his life. In this verse, David uses three different words: great, greatly, and greatness. “Great is the LORD.” This speaks of the Lord being huge, large, and infinite in every way. “Greatly to be praised” speaks of muchness, abundance. Last, “His greatness is unsearchable” speaks of His magnificence, His majesty. Listen to the actual text with these words in mind. “Huge is the LORD in every way. With great abundance He is to be praised. Our praise of Him is never to be haphazard or careless. His magnificence and majesty can never be measured.” This is what the Holy Spirit through King David tells us. It is a splendid canvas when you stop and think about it. I need to think of this today. How about you?
For today: How great is our LORD. He is awesome in every way.
