“The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life” (Proverbs 14:27).
Carley sat across from the young resident medical doctor. “Doc, may I ask you a question?” The young medical doctor answered very professionally, “Of course you may. That’s why I am here. What do you want to know?” Carley smiled at the young lady and asked, “Am I the first person you have had to tell that they have cancer?” That dear doctor came totally unraveled at that moment. All the professionalism went out the window. She sobbed and replied, “I didn’t know it was going to be this hard. You are not the first, but you are among the first patients I have told. The others screamed, cried, some collapsed and certainly replied differently than you. What is it with you?” Carley explained that she didn’t want to have cancer, but having said that to the doctor, the Lord was giving her strong confidence because she feared Him. Fearing the LORD was a fountain of life in that hospital room. What a conversation with the young medical doctor.
For today: How is the Lord giving you confidence? How is He a fountain of life to you?
