“For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers” (Romans 1:9).
I have a little shelf decoration on the ledge of my kitchen window. I believe it came from my grandmother’s house after she went Home to be with the Lord. It has been in my family many, many years. Its question is probing and piercing. It simply asks, “Have you prayed about it?” Over the many decades it has been in my family, Karen and I have smiled as we glanced at it and have answered “YES!” So many people and so many situations have captured our hearts, and it has been our privilege to bring them before the Lord. Paul felt the same way about the believers in Rome. He was always ready to pray for them. They were never a burden or an annoyance. I can’t help but wonder if we likewise are as faithful to praying as we should be. I know I am convicted and reminded of the importance. How about you?
For today: May we be able to say, “I make mention of you always in my prayers,” as did Paul.
