“And He was transfigured before them: and His face did shine as the sun, and his raiment (clothing) was white as the light” (Matthew 17:2).
This miracle took place on one of the mountains in Israel and was revealed to Peter, James, and John. When Christ left His glories in Heaven, He veiled His glory and voluntarily limited the use of His deity. Paul said, “He made Himself of no reputation” (Philippians 2:7). It is important for us to remember that during Christ’s earthly sojourn, with His vast and dazzling glory veiled, He appeared in His humanity as another man. But here today, for a moment, a brief moment, in a tiny way, Christ pulled back the veil just a bit and was transfigured in their presence. How awesome that moment must have been! You and I are looking forward to beholding this majestic Lord when His prayer will be answered. Do you know which prayer I am thinking of? I will show you tomorrow. But for now, remember that you belong to this glorious Lord if you have asked Christ to be your Savior.
For today: Lord, may I live in such a way as to demonstrate to others that I want to live for Your glory.
