“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).
Today is Friday, October 22nd. Many historic events occurred on this date, including:
October 22nd 1812 The Duke of Wellington seized Burgos, Spain.
October 22nd 1861 The first telegraph line linking west and east coasts was completed.
October 22nd 1881 The Boston Symphony Orchestra gave its first concert.
October 22nd 1936 The first commercial flight from mainland to Hawaii took place.
October 22nd 1950 The LA Rams beat the Baltimore Colts 70-27.
While all these events were significant when they occurred, you probably could go about your day quite well without being reminded of any of these. However! Here is something that you absolutely do need to know. “Today is the day which the LORD hath made.” He is the sovereign God. He alone is God. He alone created today. Rejoicing and being glad in it really depends on whether you know Him personally or not.
For today: The circumstances of today may not make me happy. Knowing, however, the Lord in a personal way will cause me to rejoice and be glad in Him.
