Volume 5 Number 12 “Just Two Little Words that I Really Need”

I have been greatly encouraged at the responses I have received from folks who read “Karen’s Notes.” Some folks never met Karen in person but have expressed that her words have ministered to them in unusual ways which makes them feel like they’ve known her for years. Quite often people who were friends of Karen’s have written with smiley faces saying, “I can just hear Karen say that.” Sometimes I receive notes and emails from people who tell me that “Karen’s Notes” were posted just at the exact time that they needed it.
Every so often I will pick up Karen’s Bible. Many verses are either highlighted or underlined. She occasionally wrote a note in the margin of her Bible. Those who know her will testify that she was a lady of few words who could briefly summarize the right course of action.
May I share with you two verses that she underlined many years ago?
“I will praise Thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify Thy name for evermore. For great is Thy mercy toward me: and Thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell” (Psalm 86:12-13).
In the margin of Psalm 86:13 this is what she wrote.
Karen wrote: Never forget.
Michael’s observation: That’s it! Never forget!
We had a really wonderful (not perfect) marriage and truly enjoyed our life together. Often we would laugh at the differences in our personalities which showed in our amount of words. If I was making a comment about Psalm 86:12-13, it would take a couple of paragraphs (or more), an illustration and maybe a poem. But my Karen, well friends, these verses spoke to her heart, and everything she needed to say, to do, and to apply to her life are wrapped up in “Never forget.”
Never forget that He is to be praised. “I will praise Thee.”
Never forget that He our personal God. “O LORD my God.”
Never forget that He is worthy of our praise. “With all my heart.”
Never forget that He is awesome. “I will glorify Thy name for evermore.”
Never forget His mercy. “For great is Thy mercy toward me.”
Never forget His salvation. “For thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.”
So friends, be careful not to get so busy today that you forget the really important things. “Never forget.” Just two little words that I really need.
