“Karen’s Notes!
Insights from a Glory-Bound Lady”
Selected Notes
Volume 5 Number 31 “Best Gift Ever!”
August 3rd, 2022
Apparently, it was a one-time ladies and daughters teaching time for Karen. I don’t know where it took place as there is no date on the top right margin where she usually put it. I do know that she was invited to speak to this group about the fruit of the Spirit. I shared with you last week how she illustrated the delivery person bringing a fruit basket as a delightful gift. I shared with you how she taught about the Lord’s wonderful gift of salvation and how she reminded the ladies that the Holy Spirit indwells us and desires to produce His fruit in our lives.
Let me share the two verses with you, and then I will do something I don’t think I’ve done before. Ready?
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law” (Galatians 5:22-23).
Karen always spoke in an outline way so that folks could take something home with them to think about. On our “Karen’s Notes” for today, I am going to share the outline of her seminar and then a few notes about the first point.
Karen’s outline:
1. Planted by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9; Galatians 5:22-23).
2. Nourished by spending time in the Word (2 Timothy 2:15).
3. Watered by prayer (Philippians 4:6).
4. Matured by my daily walk (Galatians 5:16).
Michael’s explanation: She then concluded with some wonderful examples and what she calls the prayer of her heart. Let me take you back to the first point and share a very small part of her notes.
Karen wrote: We are indwelt, and He bears as a gift to us His precious fruit. When it comes to love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, do you think we can pick and choose? -NO!!!!!
Michael’s observation: We need to be careful, my friends, never to become so busy that we become careless in remembering that God the Holy Spirit has taken up permanent abode in us. He indwells us and wants to be producing His fruit in our lives. It is not the fruits (plural) of the Spirit. It is the fruit (singular) of the Spirit with nine wonderful characteristics. What a sweet challenge and blessing this is to every believer. How will this play out in your life today?
