We are beginning October with some promises straight from the Word of God. The response to the daily promises in September was great. I thought this would be a good way to start the new month of October. We come to Day Two.

Day One – Promise One for October – The promise of His answer.
Day Two – Promise Two for October – The promise of His provision.

It was heartbreaking for the single mom when her child asked for the special treat. The brokenhearted mom had to say, “No, Honey. I’m sorry. Mommy doesn’t have the money for it this week. But we will do something fun instead.” That same scenario is being played out in many places and in many circumstances right now.

Please do not think for a moment that I am promoting the prosperity gospel of naming it and claiming it and somehow demanding it from God. I shutter to even write these words. Far greater, however, is our promise today that God knows all about us. He knows what we need. He knows what will be good for us. He is the great nourisher and provider for His people.

“But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). The two words “shall supply” is the word pieroo (play-RO-o) which means “to fill up, cause to abound, to furnish.” The word “need” is chreia (KHRI-ah) which speaks of “that which is necessary, useful; necessities.”

God knows what you need.
God knows when you need it.
God knows how to supply your need.
God will provide your need.

For today: Don’t quit your job and wait for God’s check to be in the mail. However, rest assured He has promised to supply your needs. I have a hunch that quite probably He has also supplied many of your wants as well.
