“Now therefore give me this mountain” (Joshua 14:12).
The last several days we have been thinking about the life of Caleb. Have you enjoyed these principles? I surely have! Here we have Joshua, who forty-five years earlier trusted God completely and declared, “We are well able to overcome” (Numbers 13:30). Now this old man was ready for battle. Fighting uphill he staked his claim for the area of Hebron. At a young age, you don’t want to have to fight going uphill. It is a definite disadvantage. As an eighty-five year old, one really, REALLY may not want to fight uphill. But that didn’t slow down Caleb. To Joshua, Caleb made the announcement, “If so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said” (Joshua 14:12). Joshua blessed Caleb and off went this old man and his family to battle. What mountain does God want you to claim today?
For today: As I grow older, I pray that my faith and confidence in the Lord grows greater. There’s nothing worse than a grumpy old doubter!
